Education Minister GIuseppe Valditara
said he would visit the town of Abbiategrasso, near Milan, on
Monday, after a male pupil attacked a woman teacher with a knife
there, injuring her arm and head.
The minister described the incident as "particularly
disturbing".
The woman was taken to hospital in Legnano and was not in a
serious condition, sources said.
The 16-year-old assailant threatened his fellow pupils with a
replica gun as well and was detained by Carabinieri police, the
sources said.
He was also taken to hospital, in Milan, with minor injuries,
the sources said.
"Episodes of bullying have been multiplying since COVID because
the interpersonal relations that are fundamental for educational
development were interrupted," said Valditara at the Pact for
Innovation Summit.
