EU received over 83,000 asylum applications in June
More than 23,000 in Germany

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 22 - According to Eurostat, 83,385
first-time asylum seekers (non-EU citizens) applied for
international protection in EU countries in June 2023, a 25%
increase from June 2022 (66,845). There were also 5,795
additional applicants, a 9% decrease from June 2022 (6,365). In
June 2023, Germany (23 190), Spain (16,075), France (12,475) and
Italy (10,730) continued to receive the highest number of
first-time asylum applicants, 75% of all first-time applicants
in the EU. (ANSA).
