Multilateralism is a fundamental
pillar of Italian foreign policy, President Sergio Mattarella
told the UN General Assembly Tuesday.
"The objective of multilateralism has been the fundamental
pillar of our foreign policy and we proudly welcome UN offices
and structures on our territory, from Turin to Rome, from
Florence to Trieste, to Brindisi", he said.
Mattarella also told the assembly that the goal was to "all win
together".
"In the history of mankind, an enterprise such as the United
Nations emerged to overcome the 'zero-sum' game that
characterised relations between nations, based on the rule that
in order to win, someone else had to lose. The goal became to
win, us all. Together".
